Bob Davis, BPharm PhD DSc FRSC CChem FRPharmS

Professor Stanley (Bob) Davis has over 40 years’ academic and industrial experience in drug delivery. As well as being the co-founder of two companies – Danbiosyst (UK) (now part of West Pharmaceuticals) and Pharmaceutical Profiles – he is also Emeritus Professor, formerly the Lord Trent Professor in Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham (1975-2005).

Professor Davis has consulted for numerous companies globally on drug delivery, as well as acting as an expert in patent litigation matters. He obtained his bachelor degree in Pharmacy and PhD from the University of London. In 1982, he was awarded a Doctor of Science degree (higher doctorate) and has supervised over 50 PhD students. He is the author of over 700 peer reviewed papers, the co-editor of seven books, holds seven patents and sits on editorial boards for various high-impact journals.

Professor Davis has also served on numerous committees and panels, including those of the British and European Pharmacopoeias, the United Kingdom Medicines Commission and the Science and Engineering Council. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and the American Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The recipient of numerous awards, Professor Davis most notably received the Høst Madsen award for lifetime achievement in pharmaceutical sciences from the International Federation of Pharmacy; the federation’s highest scientific award.
